Work is an important factor in most of our lives, and this is no different for people who have a disability. Breaking Barriers San Diego (BBSD) is an Individual Placement & Support (IPS) program, offering supported employment services to individuals with disabilities seeking work in the competitive job market. Unlike more traditional employment services, supported employment programs like BBSD use a rapid job search and placement approach to help you obtain a job, rather than providing pre- employment vocational experiences. BBSD offers flexible, continuous supports to help you find full- time or part- time work and long term supports to maintain employment. Additional services include assistance with writing résumés and cover letters, practicing interviewing skills, and problem- solving to address any obstacles to working such as gaps in employment and legal history. BBSD serves a wide range of participants, from those with limited work experience who may need the entire continuum of support to those with extensive prior work histories who require minimal support to return to the workforce. BBSD collaborates with community service providers to ensure that your support needs are in place to enhance your employment success.
